We’d love to welcome you! To get started:
Bandwidth is a measure of the information-carrying capacity of a communications channel, usually measured in a quantity of data, such as megabits per second.
The word Broadband refers to telecommunication that provides multiple channels of data over a single communications medium whether it is copper, coax, category 5 or fiber optic. Broadband service allows faster Internet speeds and greater data transmission capacity.
Fiber optics is a way to send information — like internet, phone calls, or TV — using light instead of electricity.
Imagine a super thin glass wire, kind of like a strand of hair. Now imagine shining a flashlight through it — that’s basically how fiber optics work. But instead of a flashlight, it uses laser or LED light, and instead of just light, it carries data at super high speeds.
Fiber-To-The Premise (FTTP) refers to the technology used to deliver telecommunication services directly to the home or business. Fiber optic cables run directly to the facility, enabling high broadband access and allowing customers to enjoy quality Internet, television and phone service.

Yes, you can through the use of a router or wireless router.
Yes. Wireless internet can be affected by weather, especially in rural areas.
If you experience issues during bad weather, it’s likely due to how wireless signals travel through the air or power disruptions. Fiber-optic service, if available, is much more stable in all weather conditions.
No. They’re different types of internet.
Capital credits represent your share of the Cooperative’s margins. Each year, Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. allocates a portion of its profits to member-owners based on their usage of communications services. These allocations are called capital credits and reflect your ownership in the Cooperative. Over time, they may be returned to you, reinforcing the value of being a member-owner.
Capital credits are allocated to member-owners of Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc., including residents, businesses, and institutions located within the Cooperative’s service area. Members earn capital credits based on their annual billed amounts from eligible services such as telephone and internet.
Each year, the Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. Board of Directors reviews the Cooperative’s financial health to determine if a capital credit refund is feasible. If so, they decide how much can be returned to members. This process reflects the Cooperative’s commitment to providing high-quality service at the lowest sustainable cost through responsible financial management.
Our broadband service enables you to purchase different Internet and telephone service applications and features at various rates. We know we can provide the greatest value to our customers because we own and manage our broadband network. We also focus on providing the most valuable rate plans by selecting the top most efficient, reliable and affordable choices.
The first step is to check service availability for your home/business. Depending on your location, our Internet service may be delivered through wireless, copper or fiber optic cable. See our Service Map and based on your location, this site will direct you to the Internet services and rates available at your location.
Once your home/business is connected to our network, it will take about 2-5 business days to enable service.
If installation will be longer than estimated, our team will reach out to let you know.
Our Internet speeds range from 100M-1 Gbps depending on your rate plan. To view the rates available at your location, follow the link on our Service Map.
VTCI Members will receive meeting packets in the mail. We recommend you RSVP to the meeting that is closest to your region and mail that information back to us.
Packets will go out from McAllen Post Office about 3 weeks in advance from the meeting date.
A large envelope (Meeting Packet) is mailed to each VTCI member. Packet includes meal tickets and RSVP card.
Simply fill out the RSVP card inside your Meeting Packet and mail it back to us.
We will let you attend the meeting, but for your convenience, we encourage you to RSVP by mail or at least call ahead to inform us the number of attendees.
The deadline is written on your RSVP card attached to the Meal Ticket Sheet.
We welcome children of the age 15+ as your plus one!

I really appreciate the reliability of service & quick tech support when we have any problems. What makes this cooperative different is the small company but operates so effectively as a large company, the pricing as well.

Really nice company, best service, very professional.
I appreciate the internet speed. It's the only one out here and service is great. One thing others should know about VTCI is it's good enough for anyone who lives in the country side.
