Doris Schorsch has had the joy of being married to her husband for 50 years. They have built a life together that includes raising 2 amazing children: Kendall, married to Amber, Stephanie married to Brandon, and 5 wonderful, talented grandchildren.  Ask them about any one of them and they’ll happily produces photos and tell you stories about their successes in school activities and rodeo events. Being blessed with good health has allowed them to follow the grandchildren’s activities that has been one of their greatest pleasures.

Doris graduated from Texas A & I University in Kingsville and immediately began her teaching career: 8 years as a Home Economics teacher followed by 32 years as a Kindergarten teacher. After retiring from public school, her love for teaching led her to being the director of a very successful and well-respected learning center with 98 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.  Her background as a daycare owner has strengthened her effectiveness as a board member.

Serving on the Valley Telephone Board of Directors for 3 years has truly been one of her greatest honors. Doris presently serves as board Secretary, chairman of the Scholarship/Sponsorship Committee and the ADHOC Education Committee. She also serves on the Finance Committee, Annual Meeting Committee, Bylaw/Policy Committee and Cybersecurity Committee. For the past 1 ½ years Doris worked diligently to help get fiber optic to 36 rural homes in the San Miguel area where members previously had copper or wireless.

Doris is committed to working hard to make wise decisions for the Valley Telephone Company. She will continue to serve with the same dedication that the company and its members deserve. When a member calls customer service for help, she wants to make sure the response to their request is heard, and acted upon quickly so service to their homes is not interrupted for any length of time.
