We are committed to fostering partnerships that strengthen the local economy, cultivate growth and development, and enhance the quality of life of our communities.

Commitment to Education

The VTCI Scholarship Program awards 20 scholarships every year to deserving students in South Texas. Awards are selected independently by Scholarship America.

Valley Telephone Cooperative is proud to announce an increase in our scholarship award amount for new recipients. Beginning with the next award cycle, students selected for the Valley Telephone Cooperative Scholarship will now receive $16,000, distributed as $4,000 per year.*

We’re excited to support the future of higher education for even more students in our service area. If you have any questions about your scholarship status or eligibility, please contact us.

*This updated scholarship amount applies only to new recipients for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Students who were previously awarded the scholarship under the original amount of $12,000 will continue to receive their scholarship funds as initially outlined: $3,000 per year.

Scholarship America® will select the recipients.

AWARDS:

20 awards of $16,000 each will be granted. Awards will be disbursed at $4,000 per year over 4 years. Applicants compete first within their own districts; if there are still scholarships remaining to be awarded, the remaining pool of applicants can be considered for ‘at-large’ scholarships. The intent is to award two scholarships per each of the 10 member districts, for a total of 20 scholarships, provided that the applicants meet the criteria of the selection process.

Awards are renewable up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, based on recipients maintaining satisfactory academic performance (2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale) and full-time enrollment status at an accredited two-or four-year college or university. The renewal award amount will include a bonus of $250 each year the student maintains a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or better in the prior year of college. Students may transfer to another accredited institution without penalty of losing their awards. The student must be a dependent child of an active Cooperative member who resides in the Valley Telephone Cooperative service territory.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

I appreciate the internet speed. It's the only one out here and service is great. One thing others should know about VTCI is it's good enough for anyone who lives in the country side.
