Dr. Adalberto Garza was born to founding families of Starr County in Rio Grande City, TX. He was reared on the family ranch in the community of San Isidro, attended San Isidro schools, and continues to have ranching interests in northeast Starr County and northwest Hidalgo County. Dr. Garza obtained a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University and after graduation founded Edinburg- McAllen Veterinary Services. Initially focused on equine medicine, the practice grew into a multi-person all species, large and small, practice. Dr. Garza retired from the practice but still consults daily and stays busy managing three ranches for the family.

During his professional career, Dr. Garza served on the Board of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, having served as a chairman and president. He served on the Edinburg School Board for two terms as secretary and board president. He is also a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. Presently, Dr. Garza serves on the Starr and Zapata Counties U.S.D.A. Farm Services Agency Federal Programs Committee. He is Senior Advisory Director for Texas Regional Bank and a director for the South Texans’ Property Rights Association.

Dr. Garza and his wife, Elva Fernandez, have one son, Diego. Diego and his wife, Melinda, have four beautiful daughters: Isabella, Sofia, Liliana, and Camila. 

Dr. Garza represents Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. members in District #5 – San Isidro.
